The year was 1928. During that year four Italian families, Corradini, Manzani, Costamagna, and Colavin, formed the Consolidated Terrazzo Company. Before its formation, these four families owned and operated their own Terrazzo companies in Southern California.

The CTC Founding Fathers

Luigi Manzani was president of the newly-formed company which, more or less, ran its operations out of a piece of property that Luigi, and his wife Angela, owned on North Broadway in the Chinatown area of Los Angeles. He eventually moved operations to a large piece of commercial property in a small neighborhood just east of Chavez Ravine. This was about 30 years before the City Of Los Angeles began the construction of Dodger Stadium.

At different points in time, Corradini, Costamagna, and Colavin would go their own separate ways to operate their own Terrazzo companies again. Whatever the case, it was the Manzani Family that incorporated Consolidated Terrazzo Company on September 11, 1929. The four corporate officers were Luigi, his two sons, Angelo and Guido, and his daughter, Esther.

Esther Manzani would eventually meet this handsome gentleman by the name of Giuseppe (Italian for Joseph) Amadori. They married on August 31, 1929. Shortly thereafter, Joseph began working for CTC. On January 14, 1938, Joseph and Esther had a son, Richard Amadori. Richard started working for CTC at an early age, alongside his father. Richard would eventually become part owner of the company several decades later. Richard also had an older sister, Dolores Amadori, who would later inherit her mother’s shares in the company.

Companies are formed, and companies evolve. Death is as natural as life itself. People pass away. Luigi, one of the founding fathers of CTC, passed away on February 4, 1950, leaving the company to his four children: Guido, Esther, Mary, and Angelo. Guido then took over as president of the company.

Guido passed away on September 11, 1967. Angelo then took over as president of the company. Esther Manzani, now Esther Amadori, had shares in the company but didn’t participate in the company’s operations. Joseph Amadori was then running the company with Angelo. Joseph passed away on December 5, 1967, after which Esther put her son, Richard, in place to run the company with Angelo.

Esther passed away on June 1, 1976. Dolores inherited her mother’s shares of stock in the company. Like her mother, she also didn’t take part in the company’s operations. It was still Richard Amadori, and Angelo Manzani who were running CTC until Angelo passed away on February 1, 1980. Afterward, it came down to Richard as president of CTC, who also worked alongside his employees, doing Terrazzo flooring installations. Around 1981, his son, Richard Amadori Jr. began working for CTC, doing Terrazzo installations with his father, and coworkers. In 1990, Richard’s daughter, Diana, began working in the office doing the company’s accounting and bookkeeping. The rest, as they say, is history.

Consolidated Terrazzo Company ceased its operations in 1995. From 1928 to 1995, 67 years, CTC did hundreds and hundreds of Terrazzo installations. One of the company’s biggest and proudest achievements is The Hollywood Walk Of Fame. CTC built it, maintained it, and installed over a thousand inductions of celebrities into The Walk. The company also held one of the oldest contractors licenses in the State Of California.
